"We Deep Under Ocean"
Around September, 2015, a simple poem emerged from my early morning meditations. Over the next four months I built a mixed media work embedding the poem in an area 16" x 48", creating a collage of pencil drawing, charcoal markings, photos of found objects from my shelves, as well as painting digitally onto the composition. The typography of the poetic lines participates with the imagery of the progression. You can read the poem conventionally from top to bottom, but I think you will want to come back up line by line.  For me it is like an icon aiding my meditation.

I produced the film using After Effects, Photoshop and Premiere Pro as a new way to experience the meaning, adding my musical composition, a variation on a theme in “La Mer” by Debussy. The poem, visual art and film provide three different experiences of the meaning. When two or more have these experiences together they introduce the fourth kind of experience, conversation.
